A striking and sophisticated new identity for the Santa Cecilia Orchestra, a renowned California ensemble, featuring a cohesive and visually compelling design that beautifully embodies the spirit of their enduring and highly praised performances.

Identity Concept

The rebrand of Santa Cecilia Orchestra captures the emotional and immersive nature of their music while remaining accessible to its diverse Southern California audience. Circular elements symbolize sound waves, paired with gradients to evoke the emotional range of performances.

Dynamic photo cropping highlights the duality of sound, blending sharpness with harmony. This identity celebrates the orchestra’s transformative power and invites both loyal and new listeners into a deeper musical experience.

Logo Design

The redesigned logo for Santa Cecilia Orchestra symbolizes how sound flows from performers to the audience, embodying volume, resonance, and quietness. Paired with a clean logotype, it conveys sophistication while allowing the visual identity to take center stage.

The subtle yet distinct shape reinforces the orchestra’s role as a premier cultural institution. This design reflects both their musical excellence and elevated status in the arts.

Collateral

Building on the strategy behind the logo and brand, I designed collateral that serves as a seamless extension of the orchestra’s identity. Starting with essentials like business cards, pole signs, documents, tickets, websites, and social media assets, I established a strong foundation for the brand's presence.

Some of my favorite deliverables include these initial pieces, but the project extended further to include an extensive range of posters, environmental graphics for buildings, and takeaways such as T-shirts, lanyards, and admission bands. Each element was crafted to reinforce the orchestra's visual identity and enhance the overall audience experience.

Digital Design

At the intersection of print media and identity design lies the digital extension of the brand. I developed a website and comprehensive social media guidelines to showcase not only the brand’s mission but also its refreshed identity.

The digital presence serves as a seamless continuation of the visual language, incorporating elements like dynamic photo cropping and the intentional use of the brand’s color palette to reflect and reinforce the new direction.
